Abstract

In the present 180 old age residents (90 male 90 female) of Meerut city were examined in terms of satisfaction with their life under the influence of socio-economic status and gender orientation. For this purpose on the basis of scores on socioeconomic status two groups of low and high socio-economic status were formed. Data regarding life satisfaction was collected from the participants by administering the life satisfaction scale of Alam & Dr. Ramji Srivastava. By calculating the t-test value for the difference between male and female participants and low and high socio-economic status participants, significance was estimated with regard to life satisfaction. Results showed that female participants have significantly greater life satisfaction than male participants. Old-age people with high socio-economic status also were found to shoe greater life satisfaction in comparison of those with low socio-economic status.
