A PREFATORY STUDY ON NON-IDENTICAL POLLUTION ON FISH

Abstract

The aim of this study was to look at the aggregation and concentration of heavy metals in various organs of freshwater fish that have come into contact with heavy metal-contaminated water. Cadmium (Cd), zinc (Zn), chromium (Cr), and lead (Pb) were all provided to the fish at sub-lethal concentrations. Heavy metals can penetrate a fish's body from three different routes: the gills, the body surface, and the digestive tract. Strong metal concentration was measured in the liver and gills in the following order: Pb > Cd > Ni > Cr and Cd > Pb > Ni > Cr. In the case of kidneys and flesh tissues, the order was Pb > Cd > Cr > Ni and Pb > Cr > Cd > Ni, respectively. The amounts of cadmium and lead in tissues of Cyprinus carpio (Common carp) were intentionally increased in comparison to the other heavy metals.
